Adult Cosmetic Orthodontics

Misaligned teeth can have an emotional and physical effect on your health. You may feel embarrassed because your teeth are crooked, making you uncomfortable in social situations. Physically, your misaligned teeth can make it challenging to brush and floss properly. This puts you at an increased risk for tooth decay and gum disease.

Crooked teeth can lead to other dental problems, including teeth grinding or uneven wearing of teeth. Both issues can lead to future dental problems. They can also put added strain on your jaw muscles that can cause your jaw to ache, and is some cases, painful headaches. Having your teeth straightened will alleviate such pain.

Our offices provide both traditional braces and clear aligners depending on the needs of our patients. Visit us for a consultation to discover which orthodontic treatment is the best choice for you!

Professional Teeth Whitening

Our daily activities like drinking coffee, tea, or wine can diminish the color of our teeth. You can improve the appearance of your smile through teeth whitening. This is a non-invasive dental treatment that lifts years of staining to reveal your natural enamel color, creating a brighter, fresher smile.

Our practice offers the Opalescence® teeth whitening system, which is a quick and simple process. Our professional team will apply a bleaching gel to your teeth, taking care to apply it evenly and minimize sensitivity. Opalescence is completely safe and protects your teeth with added potassium nitrate and fluoride during your treatment.

We also offer take-home whitening kits, which allow you to lighten your smile comfortably at home. On your first visit, we will take impressions of your teeth to make a mold to fabricate your custom, clear, plastic trays. We will provide you with instructions on how to use your trays with our whitening solution.

The length of the treatment will depend on how stained your teeth are and what your desired whitening results are. You may need a touch-up every few years as daily exposure will continue to cause stain buildup over time.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding can be used for multiple purposes in improving the appearance of your teeth. The bonding material is a resin that is made from a blend of ceramic and acrylic. It can be colored to match your teeth and is easily shaped to suit your needs.

As a cosmetic treatment, composite bonding can be used for:

  • Reshaping teeth that have chipped or worn edges
  • Improving the color of teeth
  • Minimizing gaps in between teeth
  • Reducing the appearance of misaligned teeth
  • Covering exposed roots where gums have receded
  • Making teeth appear longer

Composite Fillings

Traditional metal amalgam fillings often stand out in your smile. Composite fillings are strong, cosmetic alternatives to amalgam. They use the same material as bonding and are shaded to match the natural color of your teeth. As such, these fillings blend into your smile and are ideal for teeth towards the front of your mouth. They can also be used to replace failing amalgam fillings.

Filling a tooth with a composite filling takes less tooth preparation and enamel removal than with amalgam, so more of your tooth’s natural structure is preserved. The process does take a little longer because it must be cured (hardened) with a special light after being applied. However, the results are well worth it, and with proper oral care, your filling could last as long as one using amalgam.

Porcelain Veneers Transform Your Smile

Veneers are thin pieces of tooth-shaped porcelain that are custom-made by a professional dental laboratory to fit your teeth and match their color. They are bonded onto your teeth to create an enhanced aesthetic appearance. Because they are very durable, they will last many years with proper oral care.

Porcelain veneers can improve the appearance of:

  • Discolored or stained teeth
  • Crooked or misshapen teeth
  • Chipped or worn teeth
  • Teeth that are either too small or too big
  • Spaces between teeth

Protecting Teeth with Porcelain Crowns

A porcelain crown, also known as a tooth-color crown, covers the entire surface of a tooth. It can be used for both restorative and cosmetic purposes. The crown is fabricated to match your existing teeth with their size, shape, and color. It is used to cover an existing tooth or is attached to a dental implant being used to replace a missing tooth.

Porcelain crowns improve the appearance of teeth that:

  • Have a large filling
  • Are broken
  • Have had severe decay
  • Are severely discolored

On average, a porcelain crown could last 10-15 years. How long it will last will depend on your oral hygiene, mouth-related habits, and your lifestyle.

Dental Implants for Improved Health and Aesthetics

A dental implant is considered both a cosmetic and restorative procedure to replace a missing or failing tooth. The post is surgically implanted into the jawbone and will be used to hold a custom restoration. The implant will look and feel just like your own teeth while improving your smile.

Before a dental implant procedure can be performed, you will need to be evaluated for your overall oral health. This includes the health of your gums and supporting structures, including your jawbone. A bone graft may be needed if you have bone loss in the area. The dentist will determine whether you’re a candidate, what kind of restoration is best for you, and how many implants you’ll need.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is an exciting new technology used for numerous dental procedures, both cosmetically and restoratively. With a dental laser, our professionals can reshape soft tissue in your mouth to improve the appearance of your smile. Also known as crown lengthening, this process can make a gummy smile more attractive as more of your tooth’s surface is exposed.
